Steve and Dora Hebrock have taught natural hoof care to college equine majors for years. They articulate their understanding of biomechanics and functionality of the equine foot into easy to understand hoof assessment, trimming theory and practice. Their students learn how to distinguish between a functional trim that maintains long term soundness and many common mistakes made by many farriers that often create problems in movement rather than making the horse comfortable and willing to do its job. I first met Steve and Dora Hebrock at the American Veterinary Chiropractic Conference when they spoke on proper hoof landings and demonstrated a proper trim in 2019. Since then, I have learned the art and science of a proper trim through classroom and field study lead by these two educated and articulate individuals. Steve and Dora are exceptional horse professionals: they are patient, compassionate professionals that treat each horse and owner with respect and kindness. Steve was the first person able to help my older Thoroughbred gain soundness barefoot. After years of being told that he would never be sound without shoes on, Steve took the time to reassure me and educate me in hoof anatomy and physiology.
